Programs Committee Members

As most of you know, we don’t have committee meetings. And all members pose programs all the time. Scheduled programs are on the Rotary calendar for all to see. When you have a speaker in mind, just propose the speaker and a date to Joe and he’ll put it on the calendar after checking with Carey.

We almost always accept the programs suggested by committee members. Suggestions from other Rotary members are also welcome, of course. Occasionally a program is suggested by a speaker wanting a Rotary audience – those we sometimes (but not always) decline.

The guidelines are that the program be of general interest to the club. Programs on important topics are encouraged, but we do avoid controversy for its own sake. When there are two sides to an important issue of compelling interest to the club, we would need to have programs on each view.

We need to let speakers know that explicit fundraising at the meeting is not allowed. References to the need for contributions and the mechanism thereof can be made, though.

We generally stay booked about three months ahead, so do think ahead.
